K-12 TUTORING

The benefits of after-school tutoring programs have been shown to have the potential to turn academic decline into academic success. Studies show that students who earned average or below average grades could earn above average or better grades on quizzes and tests if they had the support of trained faculty.

Scholar Tutorials provides just that. Dr. Prashant Baldev and our trained Faculty Assistants are equipped with the PACER PROGRAM to understand the academic needs of the individual student. Also, our “scaffolding teaching technique” allows the student to master the material they are learning in class and learn the problem-solving strategies.

GRADE LEVELS

ELEMENTARY GRADES (Grades K-5)

Satyen Baldev, Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education, supervises all programs in Grades K-5 under the guidance of Dr. B to help young children excel in school and get into GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAMS. SCHOLAR TUTORIALS helps young children accelerate their academic studies at an early age.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES (Grades 6-8)

Dr. B’s PACER PROGRAM, Starting from Grade 6, gives a long-term vision to the students that motivates them to pace themselves in such a way that unlocks their full potential for their future academic success. This is achieved by planning the students’ course of study for the next 7 years which gives a clear idea to the students about the amount of time and effort that needs to be put in for the next 7 years.

Proper course-wise planning in Math, English and Science helps student improve their content knowledge in these important subjects and lay a solid foundation for their high school career.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADES (Grades 9-12)

Dr. B’s PACER PROGRAM with its detailed sequence of course planning helps students at SCHOLAR TUTORIALS reach AP COURSES in a planned and stress-free manner. The PACER PROGRAM helps students get into Honors courses in Math, English and Science andachieve great success at improving their GPA (Grade Point Average).Coupled with their success at PSAT/SAT/ACT, the students can apply to their dream universities and have a great start to their undergraduate careers.

SUBJECTS TUTORED

Mathematics for Grades K-12

Mathematics Programs include elementary and middle school level math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Honors Courses, AP (Advanced Placement) Courses, PSAT, SAT, ACT, & PARCC.

Language Arts (English) for Grades K-12

Language Arts (English) Programs include the development of Reading, Spelling, and Writing skills. There is a special emphasis on building Vocabulary and Comprehension skills. Writing Skills include Descriptive Writing, Creative Writing, Persuasive Writing, Report Writing, and Letter Writing. Attention is paid on improving Grammar and Punctuation skills from the PSAT/SAT/ACT point of view.

Science for Grades 3-12

Science Programs focus on developing a strong understanding of various science concepts and their application to the world around us. Science Programs range from Physical, General, Earth, Life & Environmental Science. Also,One-on-One tutoring for Honors and AP Level Physics, Chemistry and Biology helps students achieve great success at school quizzes and tests, eventually helping them get a great score in the SAT SUBJECTS TESTS as well as the AP exams.

DURATION OF THE TUTORING PROGRAMS

All tutoring sessions are of 2 hours duration.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS

Year-Round Programs start from the first week of September and continue till the end of the academic year at school. Ideally, we recommend students to start these programs at the beginning of the academic year at school in September or at any time convenient to them. Recommended frequency is one tutoring session per week unless if a student wants to accelerate the program or if the student has joined late and wants to cover up the earlier topics.

SUMMER PROGRAMS

Summer Programs start from the first week of July and end in the last week of August. Summer Programs help students at SCHOLAR TUTORIALS get a head-start for their next academic year and are an excellent means of spreading the course work throughout the year.This program greatly benefits highly active and ambitious students as well as struggling students who want to utilize their free time productively during the summer.

SUMMER & YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS

Summer and Year-Round Programs combine the advantages of both the programs and are very popular among the ambitious students who desire to excel in their academic careers.

TYPES OF TUTORING PROGRAMS

40 SESSIONS PROGRAM

The most popular size of the programed recommended by Dr. B, since it gives enough time for the students to cover all the topics essential in the course. We offer 4 FREE SESSIONS and charge for 36 tutoring sessions.

30 SESSIONS PROGRAM

The ideal size of the program and recommended by Dr. B to a student who joins late during the academic year and does not have enough time to complete more sessions. Since it gives a little less time to the student to cover all topics essential in the academic year, the student might end up skipping some of the topics. We offer 3 FREE SESSIONS and charge for 27 tutoring sessions.

20 SESSIONS PROGRAM

The perfect size of the program and recommended by Dr. Bto a student who joins late during the academic year or wants to get started with the tutoringand later upgrade the program to 30 or 40 Sessions. Since it gives a little less time to the student to cover all topics essential in the academic year, the student might end up skipping some of the topics.

PROGRAM FOR EXTENDED STUDY

50 SESSIONS PROGRAM

Students with a weak foundation in the subject are recommended to enroll for 50 Sessions Program as it gives them additional time to fix their weaknesses in the identified content areas. Weaknesses in the specific content areas may be identified during an initial assessment at the time of the first tutoring session and/or may be detected later as the coursework progresses. Parents will be informed and updated with this information as available. Students can initially sign up for smaller programs and can upgrade to this program, if necessary.

FREE SESSIONS ON UPGRADES

If a program is upgraded within one month of enrollment, then the additional FREE SESSIONS for the upgraded session are available. For example, if a student upgrades from a 20 Session Program to a 40 Session Program within one month of enrollment in the 20 Session Program, then the payment is to be made for only 16 tutoring sessions.

ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING PROGRAM

Focused on Each Students Needs

One-On-One Tutoring Philosophy: Each student is unique, and so are the academic needs of the student. Individual attention to each student’s goals and constant monitoring by Dr. B makes our one-on-one tutoring program unique. Our faculty assistants help an individual student focus on his/her own academic goals and work more purposefully toward achieving those goals.

One-on-One tutoring programs are recommended for students who want more personal attention.

COST OF TUTORING PROGRAMS

TUITION & MATERIAL FEE

  • Grades K to 2: $28 per hour
  • Grades 3 to 4: $38 per hour
  • Grades 5 to 8: $44 per hour
  • Grades 9 to 12: $49 per hour (Regular), $55 per hour (Honors), $65 per hour (AP)
  • College: $75 per hour
  • Material fee: $90 (for all grades)
